About Rooted Nutrition : About Natalie
My Story
I was a chubby kid.
My family encouraged me to lose weight and 'get in shape' and it only fueled my rebellion to eat more.
I was the 'fat friend.'
In spite of my bubbly personality I always felt sub-par at school; a suction-cupped wallflower unable to reach out and live my dreams of shining bright.
I was a chronic dieter.
At 10 years old I began dieting. The cabbage soup diet, not-one-fat-gram diet, fasting, the master cleanse, one-meal-a-day, lean cuisine, raw food and even one of my father's creations, the 'air diet'.
Nothing worked. The pounds kept climbing.
I was a bulimic and a binge eater.
Food was the only aspect of my life that was rich, sweet and exciting. I used laxatives to try to undo my binge eating sessions of a pound of chocolate, pints of ice cream and whole Dominoes pizzas.
I enrolled in Nutrition college and became a health-FREAK.
Everything I learned became my new religion. Like a fanatic I would not touch one morsel of certain foods and I would consume only what was 'safe.' My life revolved around what was 'good' food versus 'bad' food.
I was an exercise addict.
I exercised 7 days a week every morning at 6am for an hour and a half. I did push ups in public restrooms and sit ups in between customers at work. Instead of enjoying life, I constantly put things off until I achieved a 'perfect body.'
I got sick in my early 20's with conditions that are seen in people at the end of life.
I developed UTI's, kidney infections, an auto-immune disease of the bladder and adrenal burnout. I suffered from chronic fatigue, skin rashes and anxiety. I got a flu or cold every couple of weeks. Long bouts of depression and moodiness set the tone for days on end.
I decided to stop the madness.
I had no other choice. I could live a life of struggle and pain or stop resisting my body and start listening to its natural wisdom.
I did all the research, trial-and-error and implementation for you.
I found a way to dive into the pleasure of food and body and emerge into my true beauty.
I became an awakened eater.
I give myself permission to eat anything I want. I sensuously savor and revel in eating. I garner joy from food and life. My body speaks to me and I listen. I feel powerful, strong and confident.
And the ironic thing is:
I have a sexier and more beautiful body from being an awakened eater than I ever had through the pain and struggle of dieting.
No pain, no gain? BULL.
Pleasure is what fed my natural beauty and sexy weight and it can do the same for you.
I am a Nutritionist and Weight Transformation Coach because I did not want to resign myself to a ordinary or 'normal' life. I wanted to figure out how to have a life full of energy, confidence, romance, mouth-salivating pleasure and sexy movement.
